Renshi Tracy Dickey is the Head Sensei at TIKK’s East Plano dojo. She opened the dojo over 15 years ago and has been teaching multiple classes a week ever since. Renshi Dickey has been training for over twenty-one years, and is currently a 5th degree black belt and holds the title of Renshi which means Polished Instructor, above even the esteemed title of Sensei.
Renshi Dickey became a World Champion in Isshinryu in 2006. In 2015 she received the honor of being named Female Karate-Ka of the year at the International Isshinryu Hall of Fame - a prestigious honor given to one woman per year who has shown incredible dedication, impressive performance, and for being an overall exemplary example of what it means to have the spirit of Isshinryu and karate within you.
Renshi Dickey has received the Harold Mitchum Humanitarian Award from the International Isshinryu Hall of Fame not just once, but twice in both 2019 and 2022 for her acts of service in her community, which she continues today in many avenues alongside being the founder of the nonprofit Empty Hand, Open Heart which is dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Renshi Dickey has been volunteering at local domestic-abuse shelters and rescue shelters for victims of human trafficking for the past 11 years. She teaches them karate, hosts self-defense classes, and helps fosters a sense of community. She is an inspiration to her students and she passes on the skills she’s developed after so many years of tireless training and commitment to all of her karate students, the women at the shelters, and to Empty Hand, Open Heart. She also currently volunteers at The Local Good Center in Plano.
Renshi Dickey is dedicated to helping every student find their footing, strength and confidence along their karate journey. Every student of the East Plano Dojo is proud to be a part of this dojo family and Renshi Dickey loves teaching. Her students love her and so does the team of black belt instructors that help her.
Earning each of your belts at TIKK is a challenge that’s meant to help you grow to be your best self both in and out of karate. This is a fun and rewarding process and we can’t wait to have you join our East Plano Dojo Karate family.
According to your effort is your reward!
The person makes the belt, the belt doesn't make the person.
